The American Red Cross responds to more home fires than all other natural disasters combined. Due to the large impact this has on our community, the Red Cross and its partners launched the Home Fire Campaign where we install free smoke alarms and provide fire safety information to families all year-round. This video tells the story of 16-year-old Dominick, who is blind and hard of hearing. He was home alone when smoke alarms installed by the Red Cross alerted him of a fire in his home. Thanks to the smoke alarms, he was able to safely escape. A donation to the American Red Cross on Giving Hearts Day can help provide free smoke alarms to anyone in our communities who need them. A $15 gift provides one smoke alarm installation and a $150 gift provides installation of one smoke alarm for people who are deaf or hard of hearing.
